Added to the list of stars is Jonathan Shotton (photo) Jonathon Shotton2one of P & O’s regular theatre performers.   He was also the sleight of hand artiste in the film Mamma Mia.   He brings with him this year some of his larger illusions.   Also added to the list are lectures from Steve Gore and Chris Woodward.   Registration details are here.

International Star Illusionist Andrew Van Buren (seen here with assistants Allyson, centre,  and Van Buren & CoStephanie) joins the latest line up for our 2012 convention with an appearance on the after banquet show.   There is also a tribute to the Van Buren family at a special event on the Friday afternoon.   Following this the DVD entitled “The Van Buren Story” will be available which Andrew says will be at a special convention price.   Copies will be signed on request.   I was lucky enough to have been invited to the preview at Stafford University Department of Media Studies a couple of years ago and it is an excellent production by Professor Ray Johnson.

There’s more British talent added to the convention list including Craig Christian (left), Mark Mason, Oliver Tabor (below right) and James Wilson. Joining the list of dealers are Alan Astra, Mel’s Magic Company, Matthew Garrett, Practical Christian2Magic, Peter Diamond, Qualatex Balloons, Darius, and Peter Scarlett, Card Collection, Camtryx, Emerald Magic.

The convention returns to the former 5 days this year starting on Wednesday 26th September and hopefully will appeal to all tastes.   The full programme will be published shortly.

ALL ABOARD FOR THE GREAT YARMOUTH CONVENTION

TrainThe 2012 British Ring Convention will take place from 26th to 30th September in Great Yarmouth and convention organisers David Ball and Peter Scarlett are now busy planning this 76th event for the society.

Since our last visit to this resort in 1991 there has been a £25 million pound makeover to the seafront giving a much improved appearance.   Two Land Trains have been booked to ferry delegates round the different venues at times to suit the convention programme and at no extra charge than the normal registration fee.   Registration details are here.  Please note the Convention prices do not include the Saturday Children’s Show as tickets need to be purchased separately from the St. George’s Theatre box office.   Gala Dinner tickets are extra at £29.Nelson

The Nelson Hotel is the Convention Hotel and accommodation here (and all other hotels etc) can be booked at Greater Yarmouth Tourism on 01493 846485.   Please do this directly as it will help the support grant the British Ring receives from the authority.

Details of lectures, acts, and dealers booked will be published as information comes to hand.   Please put the dates in your diary now and let’s make Great Yarmouth a Great Year.
